How much force?

Some of you may have read my thread a week or so ago about me ordering a new build.

Well it's arrived and am currently assembling. Basically, I'm a complete novice at building would like to ask a question. I'm trying to put the CPU (E6750) into a Gigabyte DS3R. I'm absoluteley positive I've orientated the actual CPU correctly.

Problem is, I'm having problems shutting the lever. How hard should you have to push to get the cover to close?

I seriously am not happy with the amount of force that I would probably have to apply.

I've also noticed that the CPU shutter is slightly bent which is perhaps why it's not closing properly.

Is this normal? Is there supposed to be a click of some sort? Any help wouldbe appreciated.

Hehe I can't blame you for your concern, its always a bit *sweaty* when u encounter a new socket fitting!

Just make sure you have the CPU in the correct orientation, I don't think you can fit it any other way due to the two notches. Once its sitting in the socket then you need to use the strength of conan to push the lever to the locking position! :D

If u think about it the extra pressure makes sure the CPU and socket pins are pressed firmly against each other!

Really?

I guess i'll just have bite the bullet and do it :D

I just don't want to wreck some expensive piece of kit because of sheer stupidity.

Did it!

I couple of dodgy sounds, but it sounded like the pins were just being pressed down. Hopefully I did it right.

Man, this is quite stressfull :D
