How much GPU RAM do i really need?

Yes but... that much VRAM usage? RAM I can understand, but VRAM I don't usually see that high.

I’m assuming you are some sort of web developer if you have 4 different browsers open?

What has prompted you to go digging into task manager? Are you finding the computer to be unresponsive?

randomly the computer locks up, and gpu driver seems to crash, thats what lead me to ask the question but mostly it just worries my the gpu ram usuage is always so very high

i would have thought as long as you dont max out settings 8gb would be fine also doesnt dlss trim vram usage? not sure about fsr

I have experienced similar issues as you have described when I ran out of VRAM on my 970. However I was using blender at the time. I’m not sure if a browser would cause that though.

I was pretty annoyed when I installed fancy 6 to find I don't have ram for high res textures the other day.

I have a 3060ti with 8gb.

That's by design, quite crappy game (from multiple technical perspectives). Doesn't know how to stream so once you reach the limit it will still keep the single digit FPS.
