How much memory does your pc use up when idle?

:( i must use the most memory lol...

i idle about 500MB with bitlord. messenger. all the other crap thats in my tasktray thing...

although i have 2GB ive never went over about 900since i got it.

Ont have any issues at all with dc400 in mine, I leave pc on 24/7 and the more FREE memory you free up the slower windows gets as programs occupy that memory again. Best option is to let running apps settle into memory then that way they run fastest.

386mb, but stupid firefox is using 44mb just browsing this page, and messenger beta is using 43mb and its doing sod all lol

You got the latest version of messenger beta? Mine doesn't take nearly that much, i'm on the latest version.

Also 44mb for FF is nothing :p mine decides to take 150mb sometimes.

Can somebody please define idle for the sake of the question. By idle do you mean the base state, he state at which it is at most of the time or do you mean when all programs are closed?

Then in that case my main computer uses about 1650 MiB RAM at boot. Now that I think of it, that's quite excessive. Quadruplet of QMD work units from Folding@Home is to blame for about 1400 of those Mebibytes.

My Firefox was playing up the other day, the Mem Usage was 850,000k and I only had the Arsenal website open!

Anyone know why it went so high with such a few (one) websites open?

Maybe there is a memory leak issue or something like that where FF does not release memory it used?

Just over 300meg but ive got 2 gig so not fussed.
Mem is faster than HDD which in turn is faster than DVD drives so i prefere my stuff in the mem.

my lowest was 102MB idle, (just after boot - i'm running on 2x 1GB sticks) :)

12 processes running
