How much money do you spend at and getting to work?

Having just finished Uni I started my first full time job last week and I have to say I'm finding it an expensive business! A day ticket on the bus costs me £3.50 then at dinner I need to buy something to eat and a drink so that's about another £3.50. If you tot it all up that's about £35 a week which when your only just starting working and not earning a great deal and waiting for that first pay packet that's a fair chunk!

Anyway just thought I would ask what the rest of you spend out of curiosity. :p

Travel expenses paid, lunch is abouit £2-3 per day

Getting to work is totally free as I have a company vehicle, and I take sarnies to work so virtually nothing for them.

I will go to the cafe for a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich on Fridays and that set's me back about 2quid.

So prity low cost all in all :D

Train pass for a year cost me £684.
I make my own lunch so it probably only costs about £1.50 a day, at a guess.

We get free hot drinks at work, too, so that saves a bit of cash. Mind you, if we didn't I'd take a thermos in.

I'm commuting to London during the summer - and it's expensive. I work 5 days in 7, fairly randomly scattered, and the cost, including the third off with a young person's railcard, is £10.70 per day during the week or about £6 at the weekend or if I'm coming in later in the day. It would be £3 a day more for the tube if I wasn't cycling once in London. Fortunately I get a free lunch. In September you can't get the 1/3 off so it's even more (£16 a day during the week) - but I think it works out a bit cheaper to buy a weekly or monthly ticket then.

Train ticket's £7.40 a day, altho that'd drop to £5.90 if I got a month season ticket (no point getting one this week since i've got a couple of days off, would work out more expensive!). I make my own sandwiches but buy a drink so it works out about £1-£1.50 a day.

All those people who drive cars into work, don't forget all that driving requires maintainence, it's not all fuel, so it'll be more expensive!

it pretty much is just fuel, most of us drive out side of work. Also car repairs are few and far between.

Car running costs other than fuel don't really come into it for me because I would have a car anyway.

£2580 pa on trains
If I buy lunch it can easily be £5 a day.

Say if I bought lunch everyday for a year £1200

so £3780

£8700 on season ticket and car parking.
£125 pm on fuel (commuting only 11 months inc holiday) = £1375

So, £10,075 purely to get to and from work. My god that's horrific

Nothing as the shop is about a 3 - 4 minute walk from my house
I leave at 9.25am & arrive at 9.29am

I'm not entirely sure how far I commute, it's a good hours commute from swindon to abbingdon, in an E90 330d. I usually pop into the nearest pub at lunch that varys depending on what I have, on average about a tenner a day cause I enjoy steak. £150 a week tops i'd say, I don't exactly count my pennies, nor can I be arsed to work it out properlly...

That's insane! you must commute across an entire county at least for that kinda train fair, how far do you travel? and more importantly how can you afford it? are you a drug dealer?

I travel from Rotherham to London each day. I can only just afford it, and no - I'm not a drug dealer!
