How Much RAM for New i7 2600K Set-Up??

Hi

I'm not an overclocker or a gamer. I'm building a new set up consisting of i7 2600K cpu & looking at the H67 Asus P8H67-M Evo mobo. The reason for H67 mobo is because I only need integrated graphics & would like to take advantage of Intel's HD 3000 gpu, rather than HD 2000! I will only be using the pc for home digital audio recording, editing & mixing, and for video & photo editing (hobby only, not pro), NO overclocking or gaming, therefore I know RAM plays an important part for my needs. The mobo supports dual channel DDR3 1333/1066 up to max of 32GB. I want to buy dual channel kits for performance, can anyone suggest a total amount of RAM that I will need to easily handle my needs please??? Was looking at a minimum of 8GB total, but not sure if this will easily do the job?? If so can anyone suggest two decent 2x 2gb kits with low CAS please?.
Am I best to go 16GB total? If so, can anyone suggest two decent 2x4gb dual channel kits with low CAS??
This is my first build, I'm a novice so lamens terms is much appreciated, thanks in advance :)

The only 2x4Gb 1333 kits are the G.Skill C9 for £75 :

Although C9 is standard latency, that's a decent price for G.Skill, which a lot of people swear by for reliability (and they are 1.5v). I you did want a C7 kit, look at the OCZ Platinum :

So you'd need 2 pairs for £68, leaving you no free DIMMs, but it's Hobson's Choice for 1333MHz C7 (be careful, 1.6v). Being a cheapskate, I'd check out the OCZ C9 kit - not fast, but it is ELV 1.35v, ideal for Sandybridge, and This Week Only @ 28.79  :

That's the obvious budget choice (8Gb for £58!), if not go with the G.Skill 2x4Gb and forget low latency - at least you'll have free DIMMs for later. But 8Gb should be enough for pretty much anything (famous last words...)

Thanks for the above DennisMenace...the G.Skill 2x4gb sticks look like a good option, that way I'll have 2 spare slots for upgrade! Are there any 2x4gb sticks out there with lower latency that you'd recommend though?

I'm sure PNY does some cheap ram. they are roughly £18. I cant post links due to forum rules - competitors and stuff but google is your friend ;)

Whoops...of course...apologies...thanks trigger-happy. I take it they are out there then, will do some searching! Because I am going for the H67 mobo (only need onboard HD 3000 graphics), there is no support on these mobo's for 1600Mhz RAM, therefore will have to go with 1333Mhz. Just seen a thread on here though which shows a comparison chart for access times between the 1600Mhz with CAS 9 & 1333Mhz with CAS 7, the 1333Mhz had slightly quicker access times, therefore I'd like to find 1333Mhz 2x4gb sticks with CAS 7.

Do you know if there is much performance increase with 1333Mhz CAS 7 as opposed to the 1333Mhz with CAS 9?? Got to weigh up if it's even worth the price difference (don't know what costs are yet)??

At a closer look at your recommended link for the G Skill sticks above, it looks as though these are compatible with the old H55 chipset, but are they compatible with the H67 do you know?

I'm having trouble finding any 1333Mhz 2x4gb sticks with a low latency than CAS 9!!! Help

For the third time in a week: the H67 boards do not have 'no support for 1600MHz RAM', they simply run it at 1333MHz. Buy 1600MHz C9 RAM and run it at 1333MHz C7.
