For the last couple of years we've been with Virgin Media. Currently on the Broadband XL (Up To 60mb) for £21.75 and phone line rental of £14.99 totalling £36.74 (before the very few phone calls we make). I'm now looking to save a few quid.
Couple of questions, their website currently says 'Up To 60mb' is £19.50, £2.25 less than I'm currently paying. If I phone up and ask them to drop me onto the £19.50 tariff - will that lock me into a new 18 month contract?
Secondly, the 'Up To 30mb' package is only £14.50. Apart from the lower peak speed - is there anything wrong with this much cheaper option? And would the change result in a new 18 month contract?
Finally - we're not that far from a BT exchange, is DSL competitive against Virgin Media?
