Hi there,

Started a new job recently.and I seem to have got paid a lot more that I was expecting. I know my company offers a quarterly bonus, but there is no mention of this on my pay slip.

Should £20k a year for my probation period, how much should I take home each month after tax & NI etc?

Cheers

just looking at those websites makes me realise i really can't wait until i start my grad job.

£1751/month after deductions. soo much computer/music related gadgetary goodness to buy. :D

spie will no doubt be seeing the colour of some of that money, and this time it wont be from a student loan lol.

Everyone thinks that.....

I am under no illusions that money will not be in plentiful supply when I graduate. However I think I should have about £500 a month after all bills, loans, pension contributions, food etc is paid off. This should be an OK amount to live on.

I don't like the increase in student loan threshold (sp?) cause I am only just going to paying back the interest now, unless I make some voluntary contributions.

and then the real world starts to kick in :D

£1751 a month would leave me £42 spare after my direct debit bills , from this I would need to run my car , eat , dress , go out etc , looks like computer gadgetry would go out the window :(

So your getting a bit more than that then a Month ;)

Lets see...

A 'normal' take-home is about £1200, dependant on whether I work overtime or not.

Rent = £550.
Bills = £500.

I get £450 from my girlfriend each month for her share of the rent+bills.

So that's £1650 in, £1050 out, £400 to spend on my magazine habit, booze, food, cars, gadgets and enjoying myself.

And every third month I get another £3.5k (roughly).

Go go team disposable income!

Its funny the monetary ethics of the forum. Everyone wants to see but turning a thread into a "post your monthly income", would surely be frowned upon by the other members. Other peoples earnings seem to have an attached tabboo.

a lot of folks generally do not want people to know their earnings though tbh I don't see it as a big deal , among the regular members of this forum a lot could be worked out anyway , we know what cars each other drives where we go on hol etc so you can get a good idea

Reading this thread just makes you realise how much we get stung.

My GF is currently in a £16,400(ish) pa job and actually sees around £1,120 per month.

She's currently in the process of applying for a new job paying between £18,000 & £20,000, which if she gets (and judging by whats been posted here) means that her actual increase in wages that she will see is about £80.

Hardly seems worth the hassle :mad:

i thought it was £70/m/£1000 increase. if she goes 16,400 - 18k, it'll be £80. if she goes straight to 20k, it'll be more...obviously :p

Well, maybe :p

My main point was that in getting an increase of so many £000's on your gross salary, you only see around a £100 increase on your net salary. Pathetic.
