How much space do you guys leave behind your pc?

8cm :O, but most of the heat in mine gets shoved out the top :) (case is ontop of desk next to me) when i say desk.... i mean some antique makeup table -.-

are you really a girl and actually your "PC" is a "personal cabinet" used for your make up?

NO GIRLS ON TEH INTERWEBS!

Grey - did you know that or measure it? :-)

Mine's about 30-40cm away away, because I've got my subwoofer and 6-way extension cord behind it that take up some room. As with many others, most of my heat is exhausted out of the top: the fan in the back doesn't shift massive amounts of air.

My cables are pushed against the wall and there is also a hot water pipe on the wall since our heating was replaced before Christmas. My desk also has poor airflow so even at stock my Q6600 is idling at around 40 degrees C.

Why not measure temps with the case at different distances from the wall and see if it actually makes a difference? You could even plot a graph :)

As close as I can until the cables are pushing back. I dont see a problem with it - loads of air coming in via the front/side/bottom of the case and all the hot air will get pushed against and along the wall (with most of the heat rising up to the ceiling). That is how it works in my head anyway :p

Yeah, I figure the same. It registers the same temperatures tucked under my desk, as it did whilst I was building it out in the open, so I think your theory is sound.
