Me and my better half are going to Menorca next week for 7 days in a all inclusive hotel. We're unsure on how much spending money we should take as neither of us have stayed all inclusive before.

Any opinions/suggestions/recommendations?

As much as you can afford.

You might not need it but its a nice feeling to have not counting the pennies whilst away.

If your talking how much currency then just use your card and take money out as/ when needed.

I can't think of the last time I ordered cash or did the travellers cheque thing anyway. I get on a plane, get off, go to a cashpoint for some local currency and stick most stuff on my debit card or credit card for anything purchased of value.

Get a credit card with fee free visa rate purchases. Get a debit card with fee free visa rate cash withdrawals. Take out money/pay for purchases as you go. You'll get the best rate available and will not have cash left over to spend on rubbish.

^ - Get a couple of hundred Euros to tide you over and take along your Credit/Debit card like Housey says.

What do you plan on doing? If I go to an all inclusive it's because I want the type of holiday where I do nothing but spend all day by the pool reading and drinking free booze. In which case you really don't need much money at all except for the odd day out.

If you still plan on heading out of the hotel and sampling life outside of the hotel then take a little less than what you would usually for a self catering holiday.

For comfort and between two people - 100 - 150 euros a day.

If you are going to an all inclusive hotel and staying there relaxing all day then you aren't going to need any money at all, let alone 150 Euros a day.

OP, without knowing what sort of stuff you want to do nobody can advise you on this really.

Why does this forum have so much difficulty with going abroad and the 'challenge' faced by foreign currency?

It's all inclusive so you won't need much. We can't tell you much 'much' actually is so take your credit card and a debit card so you can conduct transactions and/or remove cash. You know, like a normal adult would do.

However much you spent on your "All inclusive" holiday!

Ensure that you have (At least) the same sum again (by whatever means you wish) available to you.

You do not need to spend it all, but ensuring you have it available will mean that you will not end up feeling that you have short changed yourself.
