How much were the 8800GT when 1st released??

I'm trying to work out if getting a 8800GT would be a good investment now. From all I've been reading there's not going to be a huge improvement when the 9800GT comes out and if the cards going to cost around £200 for an extra couple of frames a second it wouldn't be worth it. I mean for just over £200 I could get a 8800GT and a BluRay rom with DVD rewriter capabilities.

That's why I would liike to know how much the 8800GT was because I assume that's about how much a 9800GT will be.

I'd go with this option - if the 9800 series proves to be a must have then you can always sell the gt and upgrade.

No it wasn't. It was £140 when first released in the 512meg version

Then the retailers started cashing in on short supply and customer demand and raised their prices to £170-£180.

They are actually only now returning to their original RRP and a little lower thanks to the GF9600.
 
Yeah the targetted price for 8800GT was around £140-150, some people were lucky enough to get them at that price before stock shortages saw the price soar to around £175.

Same goes for the E8400 cpus, they were priced at £120 on launch but due to stock shortages are selling for more like £150 now.

Anyway, if I was looking to buy a good value card, the 8800GT-512 is now an attractive option at under £130.

I got the very last Gainward BLISS and payed £200 for it :P

That's when stock was WTFlow.
 
Been looking on the famous auction site and it looks if the 9800 was a hell of a lot better I could almost get my entire £130 back on an 8800gt. Why do some people pay more for second had graphics cards? lol

Ok I ay head up and get on. :D No parming me off with B grade stuff this time OcUK I expect new stuff when I pay for new stuff.
 
On release day I paid £183 for my Gainward 8800GT and that was including postage, was around £175 it cost me and thats the prices they were around most places, they went down in the end though.

Thought BluRay roms were like 400 quid? :eek:

as i remember 200 £ inc vat maybe even more as they were short in numbers and was hard to get one hardware goes cheap fast now a days specially graphics cards
