How much would it cost to put together an ITX size system?

I would highly advise a OTT spec CPU HSF, such as a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120SE or Silent Assassin 120SE (the latter has an extra heatpipe and better fans), which costs around £26-36 elsewhere, then you won't have to have the fans doing much on something like that 5600 CPU, and will have a nice silent but cool running MITX :)
Plus the bonus of in the future it'll easily handle more hardcore CPU's of both AMD/Intel ;)

if there's the budget, then deffo

Thanks, it has given me a starting point. I will look into it more. I won't get it today though, but it is something i will eventually do. It's either doing this or getting a crappy £300 laptop that I am going to hate. I rather spend more and get something good and last longer.

Yeah, I mean for the sake of what £15 more he could easily get a Peerless Assassin 120SE, or if he's got a bit more and fancies RGB, he can get that variant, skies the limit. And we all know how good those HSF are. It's like the Arctic Freezer III Pro of the air cooled HSF's!

You won't have trouble finding something decent be it AMD/Intel in the current generation, there are many good options such as Asrock if you're on a budget :)

I am happy to spend a little more on cooling, and SILENT cooling at that. Having had a Mac for years I now dislike noisy PC's....so you can even ignore fans and heatsink as part of the budget as I will just get whatever to make it quiet....by air....I am not doing water cooling, I have to draw a line somewhere!

Yeah, so an OTT spec one running multiple big fans quietly cooling an easy to cool CPU, is exactly what you want :)
Yep, I've had many Macs/Macbook's, you're preaching to the choir mate :)

If you did consider budget watercooling, Thermalright also make amazing budget AIO's now, and because they manufacture their own stuff, it cuts out the middle man and they're stupid cheap and very good apparently, or for a bit more you could get an Arctic Freezer III or III Pro in 240/360MM depending on the case you choose. They are considered the best/quietest out currently and very cheap! Not as cheap as the Thermalright, but this gives you options ;)

I am finally going to get a AFIIIP360MM at some point ;) will be my first experience with watercooling or AIO's, so if I hate it, I'm pouring it over your system ;)
i've used corsairs, af2s and thermalrights never had a leak ;)
