Hi

How much would you pay for the following if you couldnt be bothered doing it yourself ?

1) car fully washed on the outside, dried, windows and mirror glass cleaned, tires/alloys and black bits dressed and tar removed.

2) as of 1 but with car polished and waxed

3) 1 + 2 and inside of car fully valleted, hoovered and steam cleaned, glass and trim dressed.

Just wondering really as see that there is a few people offering a mobile service where they come to you and do the work at your house. The local chap is charging about £25 for 1, £50 for 2, £80 for 3 and seems to be doing quite a trade. Below are a few of his pics.

dirty civic
clean civic
shiny tasty m3

Is it worth it and is there money to be made in setting up such a business ?

Thanks

Thats not an M3 :)

Must admit tho , seen quite a few valeting companys pop up over the last 6 months.

Lol, yup, that's not an M3.

I might start paying someone to valet mine. It just takes flippin' ages to valet it myself. Only problem is, I can't see a valetter doing as good a job - simply as they're not going to be willing to spend hours doing it.

My g/f's work has a deal with a local mobile valet and he does the firm a discount onsite service and he more-or-less offers 1,2 and 3 as you describe. Since he's got a market of 200 rich executive types he can discount heavily and I pay because they'll go for it:

1. £25
2. £35
3. £45

His version of 3 includes minor scratches being polished out and the engine bay being done too. :D

depends how much of a good job i guess. the local places in london do £5 for outside and £10 for inside & out. they dont exactly use quality products or do a perfect job though.

i got them to tcut my enitre car once for £20 which i thought was pretty good! :)

Polish guys at my local homebase charge a fiver for number 1, sometimes they will have a queue of 20 cars including ferraris and bentley sports, testament to the class job they do.

I'd never let anyone wash any of our cars, they probably use the same sponge on the wheels for the rest of the car:/

But then again I do enjoy it, here are my efforts (and a big effort it is, they don't call it lwb for nothing!):D

Definitely, i've got some 'free time' aka revision time for a few weeks and then i'm off again!

Heh, need to set aside about 2 hours for a good job.

i must be onto a bargain, the chap that visits our place charges £20 to clean the outside and valet then inside

does all our company cars and any of the staff cars that want it done.

probably does fairly well out of it but he also ends up working in some fairly bad weather too sometimes

Depends on the quailty of the job as with all things.

Last guy I had valet my car spent 7 hours doing it and as he was a mate of my dads I got it for £65. Never seen the car so clean before.

Most good valeters rekon it takes from 3 - 4 hours inside and out.

I can barely get the outside done in 3 hours (wash, Meguires stage 1,2 and 3) but I guess once you've had practice...

Also, they'll be insured for any damage to your car! :)
