Title really, I personally browse for around 30 minutes everyday. Sometimes I am just looking at residuals of existing and previously owned cars, but mostly eyeing up something new. It brings me great enjoyment and is part of my daily ritual at this point.

How often do my fellow ocUK motors crew browse auto trader?

Everyday. Have you all spotted that dreamer wanted 30k for his supercar/no brand kit car 'thing'?:o

As I'm looking for a new car now, pretty regularly and I have several alerts set up as well. Prior to a couple of months ago not very often unless I was recommending a car to someone here.

Varies, but probably couple of times a week. Searching my browsing history I tend to do it in spurts, maybe 3 days in a row then not for a couple of weeks. For window-shopping I tend to combine it with looking at drivethedeal and franchise dealer ex-demonstrator sales pages.

It's largely a bit pointless other than building an understanding of the market, as we don't change cars that frequently, so when I see a good deal it's very unlikely we'd move on it anyway.

I wish some of the search criteria were a bit more granular, e.g. Acceleration you can only choose <5s. <8s, 8-12s, 12+. Bascially I don't want a car doing 11.9s to 60mph, but nor do I need something doing <8s. If they didn't use these bandings then it would be more useful as a discovery tool in case there are any cars that would fit my criteria I haven't thought of.

Largely why I do it - just building an understanding of what is going on and when a good deal is actually a good deal, etc. and if the timing is right move on a good deal as you don't always get what you want used or new when you actually need to buy :s

Most days. Pre internet, used to make sure I picked it up first thing Thursday, before all the good cars sold :p

When I was a kid I always bought a local copy when went on holiday, see what was available in different areas, and price differences.

I never thought to do that!

I did always love buying it when i was a kid, i was obsessed with the prices of escort cosworths.

Was just thinking I basically treat Rightmove the same, fair bit of window shopping to get a feel for the market in different areas, but years go by without me actually buying another house. I've eased off on that since the pandemic took hold but it used to something I'd be checking most days on the commute.
