Just curious, what's your budget...I really let things get tatty, let shoes wear down to the metal etc... total hobo!

When I need them.

I've got a large drawer full of t-shirts, two pairs of non-tatty jeans and a few hoodies & sweaters which all get replaced when they start to look a bit tatty, which is probably every other year or so. I get a couple of workshirts a year and a couple of pairs of trousers. Anything else is just ah-hoc if something takes my fancy, like a casual shirt or bit of tailoring, but not very often.

I probably spend less than £500 a year unless I need to buy a new suit.

On average I'd say a new pair of jeans/chinos about once every 2 months. T-shirts, shirts and jumpers probably a few times a month. Trainers and shoes probably once every 2 months.

When I have 4-5 wearable shirts I will start to get a few more. same for socks etc. Otherwise I don't bother. The main factor is the mrs complaning as she has to get stuff through the wash quicker, so to stop the high pitch noises I buy some more stuff ;)

I still have jumpers and t-shirts that are pushing 10 years old.
They still fit and aren't tatty so why throw them away? (faded, I'll give you that)

Obviously there are social situations where I wouldn't wear them.
I find it very hard to throw away clothes that aren't worn out.

I buy stuff when it needs replacing. Usually once a year or so unless I see something I like.

I like to look smart but i'm dead lazy buying clothes and i hate spending money on them. I tend to buy them when I need them rather than when i want them and by this time i need a whole new wardrobe.

Still sporting blakeys on my shoes if that's any indication to how much I don't like buying new clothes.

And at that I basically just walk into the tailor shop down the road give her my card and just go "Will you please just give me some clothes"

I tend to change size between L and XL every few months. It's annoying as I wish I could just stay in the L category. This is mainly for t-shirts/tops etc. I tend to buy 3 or 4 t-shirts every 6 months as they do get rough or worn out quickly by constant washing.

Jeans always the same. I have 2 pairs of jeans I wear all the time, only buy jeans about once a year.

Hoodies and jumpers - own about 3, rarely buy them and I get a nice one every birthday or christmas.

Jackets - I tend to get bored of jackets quickly so get about 2 a year.
