How often do you buy new clothes

As I need them really. My big problem is the apparent inconsistencies in sizes. I'm 6'3 and 14.5 stone. Half of my t-shirts are size L and fit perfectly, whereas others feel like I am wearing a straight-jacket. The same is true of jeans, I am usually a 34-36L yet some jeans seem far longer than others. I bought some Levis the other day (36L) and they were much longer than my other jeans!

Not very often as I hate shopping. Usually about once or twice a year and spend between £400 and £800. Per year I normally get 1 pair of trainers, 1 pair of shoes, new work trousers, 4 new work shirts, pair of jeans, casual shirt/ t shirt. Then whatever else I just so happen to need at the time.

You guys sound like a bunch of scruffs.

I buy a bunch of new clothes every season. If something pops up that I like I buy it, usually a couple of items a month.

Trainers, well on average I think it works out at 2,3 pairs a month. I'd hate to put a price on how much I spend a year...

As and when needed and I don't spend a lot as I'm not bothered about brands and fashion.

The only exception to this is motorcycle clothing as I spend decent money for decent protection. For example I bought some new boots recently for over £300 where the most I ever spend on shoes is £50.

Not very often. I usually ask for a few nice tops from banana republic for xmas or pick them up when in the states. They do a lot of stuff that can be worn casual, or for smart occasions too. Very reasonably priced too.

Then I just have 2 pairs or jeans I wear but I don't wear them that often so they last years.

T-Shirt wise I have about 30 but these days I just buy nerdy ones from the likes of redbubble as then they actual have some meaning to me and I like them. Or I pick them up on holidays etc.
I only buy a couple of t-shirts per year and when I buy 2, I throw out the 2 oldest.

They never end up looking tatty or old, but I still spend very little per year just updating the odd item.

Clothes hold no interest to me at all - purely functional but despite putting no effort or care into it, I always get comments on where I buy them. lol.

Banana Republic do tops for £30-£40 that look nicer than £200 ones.

When I go out to a shopping centre (maybe once a month) I'll normally pick up a new piece of clothing or two, not necessarily because I need it but because I like it. I tend not to wear my clothes heavily anyway, as I'm in a desk job I don't get chance to wear clothes out that much. This is apparent to me as most of my family work in manual labour and get through jeans and shirts within a couple of months.

Saying that I do periodically throw out clothes I don't wear, my wardrobe is a single meter rail and I get all of my clothes on that. I wear formal shirts and trousers for work so jeans will last quite a long time for me.

One or twice a year.

Tend to have a "best" pair of jeans and a couple of t-shirts/jumpers for the smarter-casual occasions, Plus a load of standard clothing, and a couple of actually-smart choices. The "best" stuff gets relegated into the rest of the bog-standard clothing after a while.

I've had the same pair of Merrells my casual shoes for over 2 years. Still going strong.

Can't understand blokes who care more than they have to about their appearance. What you trying to hide?

I can't remember the last time I went out to buy clothes. Years ago, probably. I find clothes shopping the most boring thing in the world. Even if I force myself to do it I end up giving up after five minutes.

Tell me - how much should you care about your appearance? Is there a guideline? a set limit as such?

I'd say I care about my appearance more than the average bloke. It's not just me though. My circle of friends are exactly the same. I like buying clothes and shoes as I like clothes and shoes. It's as simple as that.

Fair enough. I just don't understand you, or your friends, and have a suspicion that you are trying to hide something. Like low self-esteem.

But, heck, maybe it's me - I'm just old fashioned, and that's the way guys are these days.

Sorry I deleted the post as I couldn't be bothered explaining myself.

So, since we take pride on our appearance we have low self-esteem? lol, that's the most ridiculous thing I've heard all week.
