How often do you change PSU?

Had my current psu for 4 years.

Developed a problem with the electric cut, tested the psu paper clip - worked.
Put computer back together, must have been a loose cable that developed, as it booted up fine.

Decided on purchasing a new psu - SuperFlower Leadex 750W Plat.
This will be the start of a round of pc component upgrades now.

I replaced an 6 old TX 750 due after a small fire caused by a short circuit on a molex power lead. Luckily I was using the computer at the time so no major damage was caused. After that I just didn't trust the PSU as the some of it's safety features didn't seem to be working so I replaced it.

Until they go pop, usually if it's a good brand they only top themselves and no other components. Had a pair of Akasa cheap 460w PSU's last over 10 years, they both went within a year of eachother. Seasonic PSU in my current system is 8, was showing signs of heading out the door 4 years ago but still powering the system fine (doesn't like cold booting). About to put a system from 2003 back into service using a 13 year old PSU.

Corsair AX750 in mine and my wife's PC. Both coming up for 6 years old and in perfect working order. Had fairly easy lives though, 7970 CF for a few years but I doing get a lot of time to game these days.

Mines still going 9 years strong, Im about to upgrade my i5 2500k to a AMD Ryzen with new mobo/ram, trying to keep it cheap, so gonna carry on using this PSU. Judging by the comments here it will be fine.
If it does ever finally go on me, it will just be a case of the PSU no longer working right? So I buy new one, no further problems?

You'll likely find it won't work, newer motherboards often require a further CPU power connector.

Only when I need to change it for an upgrade. If it works then there is no point replacing it. My previous PSU was 8 years old and is now in another PC and doing fine.

The only exception I guess is of you have been running it near its maximum for a sustained period, then I might have second thoughts about keeping it.
