also how do you prevent damage to the camera while mounting the tripod to the camera.

I would use mine near all the time if it wasn't such a fat ass and a heavy mother!

No damage is caused to the camera when mounting on a tripod? I use a tripod plate that locks into a variety of tripod heads. If its a windy day then I fill a carrier bag with bricks and attach it to the tripods central extender column that brings a lot of stability to the unit (to be fair though, Its very stable as it is)

I use mine almost all the time. I only don't use it when it's really inconvient to use. I've only got a cheap crappy 'pod and it's quite light. It's v. easy to attach the camera, I'd have to be spectacularly unlucky to damage the camera attaching it to the tripod.

Tripod 1:
Very cheap and lightweight. Goes almost everywhere with me. Lives in the car for a start.

Use it pretty often When outside in windy weather I hang my Lowepro off the bottom to weight it down a bit.

Tripod 2:
Steel. Heavy. 1970's. Built like a brick crapshack. Very tall too - 2.5m fully extended.

When I know the conditions are going to be rough - this ones goes with me.

Tripod 3:
Joby Gorillapod SLR. Plastic but oh so versitile.
Carry it in the Lowepro case and use it at least twice a week.

Tripod 4:
Joby Gorillapos SLR-ZOOOOOOOM
On order so will find out soon hopefully. :D

depends on what I'm doing. Lanscapes it's always. Sports never. Horses for courses really.

Not enough, I'm a little self conscious when I use it. Though I have one of those bean bag pod things and I don't mind using that. There is almost always somewhere to use the bag and camera with.

It fits in a large pocket or in my bag easilly, worth a tenner of anyones money.

I use mine almost all the time. Mainly because I take most of my shots indoors, or immediately around my house, as I don't get much time to myself these days :(

I have shakey hands, so I need it for most shots.

pretty much all the time for me in low light conditions, also I have the shakes so i *generally* use it more than the average photographer.
