How old are your monitors?

Just curious, anyone still on 15/17/19" screens? CRTs even.

I have a 17" NOC LCD monitor from over 7 years ago, still using it daily. Reliable old thing, seriously hoping that my next purchase will also have a long lifespan :D

Looking to make the jump to a 24" soon, BenQ G2410HDLC has caught my eye. Not sure whether the LED backlit is worth it over the non-LED (and HDMI with it). Decisions, decisions...

Also, I want to connect my PS3 to the monitor. If I opt for the non-HDMI model, and connect it through a DVI - HDMI adaptor, how can I get sound?

Im using a 20" samsung syncmaster as my main monitor and also have a 17" dell crt plugged in as a 2nd monitor on a 5m extension which is next to my bed with a 2nd mouse & keyboard so i can watch movies etc on it when im in bed :p

My monitor is pretty new (less than 1 year) but my flatmate uses a 5+ year old 15in LCD as his 2nd display (he uses it for MSN mainly).

The BenQ is a good deal, and I think the forum consensus is that it is a good monitor for the price. Obviously its not got the quality of a non-TN monitor, but for this price its difficult to complain.

This thread discusses which BenQ (no LED, HDMI vs no HDMI, LED), so its probably worth a good read.

Connecting the PS3 via a HDMI to DVI adapter should be no problem, though it may be worth getting a DVI or HDMI switch if you plan to run your PC off the monitor too.

To get sound I would suggest using the "AV MULTI OUT connector" that came with the console and buying a L/R Phono female to 3.5mm stereo female cable. This will allow you to connect your PC speakers directly to your PS3. As far as I can tell, there is no HDMI audio pass-through on the BenQ monitors like there is on more expensive monitors.

My Samsung 913N is approaching 4 years now and going strong. Planning on getting a 24" screen soon but maybe keep this for dual, if it's possible to have 2 difference sized monitors running.

In 2002 we got a family computer with some ****e 17" CRT, this was my monitor up until about 14 months ago, when I got a 22" TFT, and then in Jan this year I got a 28".

So I lasted about 6 years on the 17"? Hopefully these two will last me even longer haha.

i got my Hannspree HF287HJ 28" on 11 Jan, 2010 and my Iiyama ProLite B2712HDS 27" on 8 feb, 2010

my old Hyundai 24" lcd monitor i had for about 2 years..
