My sister has been offered a MacBook but she's unsure weather to buy it as it's used. I'm just trying to work out how old it is as I know they've been through several revisions. It's a white pre-unibody 2ghz core 2 duo, 2 gig ram, 160gb hdd, nvidia 9400 gpu. The hard drive has failed and is being replaced with a brand new one prior to the sale. The seller is asking £350 for it. Does anyone know approximately when was this model was in production?

Is there any way of finding out exactly how old it is?

If the processor is 2.13GHz and not 2.0GHz, it will be exactly the same as mine.

As for age, i received mine the day before the new unibody macbooks were announced as a warranty replacement for an older macbook that broke so that might give you an idea of the age.

Couldn't you just ask the seller though?

Looks like this is the one. Thanks

Think my sister is unsure about buying used though. She'd rather save for a new mbp

That's the one I've got and I'd probably advise her to either try and get a used aluminium body one or just save up for a new MacBook Air or similar. Mine has gone off-white, sort of a beige colour after only 2 years of ownership. I never use it with dirty hands or use it while eating/drinking, I don't smoke and we don't have any pets here either so I've no idea why it's gone that colour but if it's the norm for 2nd hand Whitebooks to do this then I'd try and steer clear if possible. :)
