How old to ride a quad bike on roads?

I can't ride quads.
As a motorcycle rider I just can't get the hang of turning the bars the way I want to go rather than countersteering to lean. This usually results in me turning the wrong way and crashing.

Maybe I'm just a moron though.

Quads are excellent fun. End of.

And surely how one "looks" is a matter of personal choice and everyone else's opinion? I.e. irrelevant. If we go on those values, I'd say nobody should be allowed to buy lowered Saxos with 18" rims and bodykits, because they "look" like plonkers. To me.

To the OP- Try one, and if you like it (and you will), go for it.

I'm after a road-legal RG500 powered stroker quad. Sadly there don't seem to be many around!

People don't always buy cars to look a certain way, they may just like the drive and handling etc. For example a Caterham 7 isn't meant to look fantastic, but the drive puts styling out the window as it's so much fun.

I road a quad once and it's great fun, but I would only use it every now and again in the summer.....not to commute as people said above.

My point exactly- what I think they "look" like shouldn't have the slightest effect on their choice.

These photos with non-beefy tyres and hilarious bodies look amusing, but I think I'd get annoyed at not being able to filter. Can they fly around corners at a decent speed?

As some chap mentioned, steering the handlebars the 'right' way would be strange! Or would it? I don't bloody know.

Nah I've had a quad and I didnt fall off it. TomO on the other hand within 30 seconds rolled it :p Eejit! You need to almost ride it like a bike and lean to the left and right going around corners.

I thought they had a fixed axle or something like that which meant they don't like to turn on tarmac.

Yeah mine did and as long as you put your weight into the corner it would turn fine without throwing you off of it.

Drifted very well as well.

Even managed to break the rear diff/gearbox
