How poor is local radio

Dont listen to essex fm in the morning. Sue harrison or whatever her name has just about the most annoying laugh ever. And with Martin day constantly trying to be controversial with every topic they blabber on about, it is bludy annoying. Plus he has some fancination with the same damn 80's music.

Hate Metro Radio (local one around here) in general because the DJ's are quite rubbish, but Alan Robson's Nightowls show on the special events he does are great. Tends to take people to scary / haunted places and stuff, it's good to lisen too :)

I agree about Metro Radio.

I'm starting to find it quite worrying that I'm listening to Radio 4 more than Radio 1.... and I'm 20!

I can always remeber listening to radio cumbria.
They had a phone in about sellafield Nuclear power station and some old dear rang in to say she couldn't understand all the fuss about nuclear waste and why couldn't they just spread it on the fields... made me lol anyway.

They always sound like they are smiling way to much. Makes me want to drive off the road! Damned dangerous. National radio, or no radio at all!

Local radio is pretty dire. In my old job we had it on most of the day, and I worked there for nearly 10 years... I'm not sure what was worse Mix 96, the adverts, or the same newly released songs played again and again and again...

Still, at my current job we get to listen to Radio 2. Ahh, the legendary DJ-ing skills of Sarah Kennedy...

SHE MUST DIE!!!

yup, severen sound does, but it think they are on motorbikes...
Haha severn sound is seriously bad. At work I usually listen to Radio 1 till 10 them switch over to Kiss 101 (Which is ace!) when I can get it.

We have a community radio station called GFM lol which is basically a 'Stick up for the ethnic minorities' affair. I can hack it from 12 onwards but the bloke who does the morning show is just a complete ****** who drags all his words out.

. I usually listen to Five Live, except in the mornings as I can't stand that idiot Nicky Campbell.
Hehe he is one man I can't stand watching either he totally ruined watchdog.

Nicky: So bad glazier are you going to reimburse these people whose windows fell apart

Glazier : no

Nicky; Errrm ok then

cringeworthy TV.

Bring back the ice queen Robinson. Execs were actually scared of her.

On topic everytime I go home my dad has his radio tuned to ScotFM. I don't change it and like the cheezy radio ads and crap patter from the Dee Jays. Gives me a feeling of home :D

BBC radio Scotland serving 5.8 million scots is toss though.

23 and Radio 2 for me too.

Radio 1 seems really dumbed down. They also seem to play Arctic Monkeys, every time I turn over too it.

Do your local radio stations have stupid 4x4 cars called "Black Thunders", I hang my head in shame but Q.103 does :(

HEADRAT
Yep, same for SGR Colchester.

I live near London, and normally listen to XFM, or Radio 2 if it's on in mum's car, and if I'm driving anywhere other than London I'll listen to Radio 2. Was at my dad's most of last week working on my car, and had R2 on all day - all good other than "the whine of the Vine" (as my dad calls it)

At least Wogan and Ross are genuinely funny and you actually get some intelligent debate on the Jeremy Vine show.
Ross is good, but I cannot stand Wogan's voice.

What is up when he talks real quite almost under his breath and then suddenly he goes all loud again.

Our local radio station "the magic 757" is wowful, the presenters are terrible and the content is even worse. Just the joys of many local radio stations. Radio 1 is the one to listen to :D

X-FM is rubbish apart from Jason Manfords show. You should give Revolution 96.2 a listen as they play much better music.

Yeah ! - another vote for the revolution here. Found it a few months back and haven't listened to anything else since.*

The music is just brilliant. Worth noting, presenters include Mani (Stone Roses) , Mike Joyce (Smiths) and Martin Coogan (brother of Steve and member of The Mock Turtles)

*apart from Test Match Special

Signal one is terrible, 30 minutes of adverts followed by a crap song that has the first and last 25 seconds of the song eaten into because they yap on for so long.

'Wilma, Wilma windows!!!' :D

Gotta love the coldseal adverts though :D

Best station for me is Galaxy, there's only 1 DJ that I can't stand ( he's new ) and he's on from about 10am - 12. Someone will call in and they'll be talking away to him and he's just like " Yeah whatever * hangs up * " The reast of the day tho it's good stuff.

I can't stand Radio 1, the guys talk soooo slowly. Then they'll say somthing that they thinks funny and not say anothing for about 20 minutes of pure silance!! They're zombies, they don't evan have backing music on when they're talking :( It makes all the difference!

Invicta FM really is pony, the same out capital radio cack churned out over the country.

I pretty much despair at how the DJs find themselves utterly hilarious and love the sound of themselves.

I also hugely despise their addiction to the same songs. There was one point about a year ago, that whever I switched to Invicta, it would be an Anastasia track... ffs.

Then there are the lame names for their shows, the morning zoo, the fridge. Try a little harder to be 'different' and trendy there.

Graham Torrington's late night love cracks me up though. Worst relationship advice ever whilst plugging his own dating site. It's like the best bits of Jeremy Kyle without having to look at the silly git.

Check out Torrington's facebook group, comments are so apt! :p

Wow - never realised I disliked it so much :D

Welcome to one of my biggest hates - SIGNAL RADIO.
I will never understand how people can listen to this tripe and hear the same music over and over again.
I know for an absolute fact from a couple of gay mates that worked there that most of the programming was gay orientated.

Heres a typical day -
Queen - Radio Gaga
Starship - We Built this City
Bon Jovi - Always
Elton John - I'm Still Standing
Erasure - Sometimes
Tina Turner - The Best
Queen - Crazy Little thing Called Love

and so on everyday forever

Always listen to my local radio (bbc cornwall), great for traffic news (i do at least 500 miles within the county a week) and good for local news too.
Cant stand the local commercial stations though.
