How powerful a PSU for this setup?

System looks fine. On the note of PSUs I have a Zalman HP750 which is a nice PSU. Look at the 850W and 1000W versions of that for your system. I have 2 Zalmans and they are good PSUs. Just another one for you to consider. Other people's recommendations such as the Corsair look fine too :)

On the note of CPUs, I'd definately look at the i7 720 D0 version. As this will save you lots of money and will probably do 4Ghz as well. If you don't want to go down that route then wait for the i7 975, which should be out by Christmas anyway. The i7 965 are just a waste of money these days unless you don't plan on overclocking at all.

On the subject of the i5, they look like fine CPUs, but if you have the money for an i7, they are no substitute.

I personally wouldn't waste money on an EE i7 CPU..

A D0 i920 will easily hit 4GHz+ without any issues.. and it is about a quarter of the price of an EE i965/i975...

DILEMA! lol well 2 actually lol... whats a better PSU:

1. Corsair 1000W
2. Be Quet! 1200W

?

And.. If there is hardly any difference between the 2 CPU's then... why get a EE CPU?? are there any other advantages... other than a black box and a higher clock lol?

Are EE CPU's hand picked and therefore can OC even further?

EE processors have unlocked multipliers.. I don't think they are any better at overclocking than the lower end i7's TBH...

Infact I am sure I read a thread on here where someone said that their i920 clocked better than any i965 processors they have tested at their work...

Not really. The multiplier is unlocked, but considering that you can clock a 920 to well over 4Ghz without touching the multiplier, it's not much of an advantage.

The EEs exist because there are always people who have more money than patience and want the quickest chip out of the box. Apart from that it's basically willy-waving on Intel's part - it's the fastest CPU on the market and they can charge what they want for it. Doesn't mean you should buy it though :)

Hmmmm now that I can believe lol :). See, I want the best that I can get for a gaming PC... but I do have more sense then money and I am not prepared to pay stupid amounts of money if the product is pretty much the same thing... However... whether to buy a 920 now or not... thats the question :(
