How quick can I run my RAM?

I think I've got some bog standard RAM for my PC. I bought it as a bundle with the cpu and mobo. I was wanting to upgrade it to much faster RAM and I want to know how I can go about finding out how I can buy faster RAM.

I'm happy enough with 8gig if stuff still but just fancied some 2400 or faster stuff. Is there really any point? Would I notice much difference?

I knocked my cpu down to stock settings as it's a beast that doesn't need overclocking when the gaming I do (BF4 Skyrim etc) would faster RAM help with stock setting CPU?

In games faster ram makes virtually zero difference tbh. Ive ran my 2400mhz rated kit as low as 1333mhz and couldnt see any difference.

In that motherboard you want to run 4 or 8 sticks for best bandwidth (in quad channel)

Previous owner had a profile setup that runs the cpu at 4.2 and ram at 2133 so i'll stick with that

I've only got 2 sticks of 4 gig each in the motherboard. Is that ok or should I have 4 sticks for quad? What difference would it make?

I've got a red theme with my build so was thinking of getting the red led version of this

as I've got the yellow strobe effect and just doesn't "look right"

Would having 4 sticks (16gig) let me run the RAM at 2133 still? along with the mild 4.2 CPU OC? Or would having more RAM mean a lesser cpu oc?

just a bump to see if I'm losing out on "anything" by running just the 2 sticks of 4 gig. Should I be running 4 sticks of 4 gig? Or am I fine with the two I currently have?

Your board has quad channel support for memory, so running 4 sticks instead of 2 will give you a little more bandwidth.

Thanks for the reply. Are we talking any noticeable difference if I run 4 sticks instead of 2? In what way would I notice any benefit by running 4 sticks. What would I need to be doing to notice the difference, if there is any noticeable difference between 4 and 2 sticks?

Depends on the usage.

It will theoretically double the memory bandwidth, so if you're doing something RAM-intensive it could be a big boost.

In gaming it's unlikely you'll see a difference.
