How quiet?

Looking to buy the Corsair H50 for my q6600. Currently using the arctic pro 7 to cool it, but tbh the temps are a bit high and the noise when it revs up is just to noisy.

Am convinced can get it beyond 3.6 ghz if i can control the temps, but liked to do it with out the noise.

oh yeah currently sitting at 3.4ghz as i have for the last 12mnths and when i use handbrake, i get temps that peak at 69c.

How noisy if at all is the H50 or do i save a little bit and go full water cooing?

cheers cal.

wouldn't be so sure - had my 6600 under water with with 2 120.2 radiators cooling just them cpu and it still didn't get much past 3.6, though I never tried putting more than 1.4875v through it.

As an alternative, what about a better air cooler. On the q6600 i had, the freezer 7 was good upto 3.4ghz before temps became an issue, (74c). Swapped it out for a thermalright ultra extreme, eventually pushed it to 3.8ghz on 1.51 vcore. Your own chip may/may not go higher as its basically luck of the draw on how good a clocker you get.

Ok i appreciate that with my q6600 it may be luck of the draw (fingers crossed it is a gud'un) but any idea how noisy is the H50?

I could purchase the TRUE or titan fenrir and maybe get a good overclock but it's the noise when it winds up that i need to eliminate, if only for my own sanity.

All comments appreciated.

cheers

Cal.
