How responsive are you to adverts?

Single figure IQs.

Pretty much, lol.

The people who share and retweet anything and everything, they effectively become free advertising, all you need to do is get the "ad" right, and word of mouth takes care of the rest. The most recent Budweiser ad is a good example. The reach/impressions it has had from shares/likes/etc far dwarfs what could have been achieved with more conventional (and expensive) methods.

Annoyingly, not all companies/brands can leverage social media, my company definitely can't, completely wrong demographic :(

Supermarket offer ads work on me. Particularly the ones for half price beef or lamb and 3 cases of beer for £20. They always get me rushing down there.

Ghostery and ad block plus : both bits of software help me avoid as many adverts as possible. If I get spammed by "suggested posts" or some other rubbish wording to avoid saying that it's an advert, I drop them as much abuse as I can for getting through the filter. I will never knowingly buy anything that I've seen on facebook.

+1 these are both awesome

I've never understood people's adversion to targeted advertising. The blanket spam ads I completely understand but some of my best purchases were through adverts(by best I mean money saved).

all ads are annoying, especially the video ads

If the web were free of video/popup/flash/audio ads I'd be happy but I've got no issue with simple banner ads. If I see a good relevant offer and by me using said ad puts a few pennies into whatever site I'm using at the time I can't be against that.

Hate all ads. Apart from occasionally it is nice to get an Amazon one reminding me of something I was going to buy but left in the basket and forgot about.

I thought I was impervious to advertising but I have recently been playing the board game Logo with the missus and her kids. It has shown me that I pick up much more from adverts than I think I do. I can even remember stuff from the 70s. Quite frightening, really.

No, you're not.

I'd dispute that.

If I ever need to buy something, I research it first. I subsequently often find that the products I have seen advertised are generally the worst performing brand. Ie, BOSE sound equipment - lots of adverts, abysmal product.

After said research is done, I buy whatever is in my price range with good reviews.

I therefore generate no revenue for any company due to adverts. I think that is an important distinction. Yes, I may be aware of certain brands due to adverts, but that does not mean I am any more likely to buy from them.

Until I turned Google's targeted adverts off, I received 90% of the time "over 50s dating" adverts. I'm only 34!

Now I just get the general crap they show everyone.

Well I'd suggest their algorithms picking up on all those 50+ porn sites you go on :p :D.

Sometimes you do get the weird additions I found it amusing when I searched for "gay men" for a photoshop thread here(yes it was:p). I got adverts about "coming out to your parents" for a few weeks afterwards lol.

I ignore almost all of them if they're not blocked. When it comes to recorded content then it is just fast forward to skip them.

The best ones are the car adverts.
Sometimes I just have to laugh at them, knowing they're being serious.

Something about a car making you feel like zip lining from a building.
Your car entering from space.
or... actually I don't remember anymore.

That's another thing about car adverts.

You can sometimes recall an individual ad, but do you remember which car company the ad was for? Ie, the zipline one. I remember the ad, but have no idea what company it was for :p

The only car ad I remember properly is the Gene Kelly dancing in the rain one, by VW. That was a good advert. Even then, I'm no more likely to buy a VW because of it.
