How Silverstone was redesigned

The pit lane entry means going straight on at Vale. The tarmac for it was down before last years F1 event.

I belive this new pit lane will be used for anything using that part of the track. If BTCC decides to use the half of the track that uses the new pits then they will.

Also, as with the Abu Dhabi track, Silverstone can now be split into 2 fully independent circuits which can be used at the same time.

that is possible, there is a conection on the exit of the arena section that joins the exit to the start of the hanger straight, but to be honest i don't think its going to happon.

Here is a picture, just look at the hair pin in the arena section.

Kerming, they dont both use that bit, the National circuit uses the earlier bit.

Red = National Circuit
Blue = International Circuit

It wont be used in 2 halves for any race meetings, however it will likely be split for experience days and trackdays.

And Bridge corner is dead. The track from Abbey to Brooklands under Bridge is no longer used. Personally, I don't understand why they have kept it. They should dig it up, flatten the area out, and build massive banks and a huge fan area. As it is is going to be awkward with the track and the bridge and things there for absolutely no reason. Silverstone has a bizzare habbit of keeping old bits of track for 'heritage' reasons, yet they just become obsoleve. The old bit from Stowe to Club before the Vale chicane was added was still there up untill last year, yet it wasn't used for decades, and if you walk round the back of the Becketts grandstand there are still kerbs from the old layout that hasnt been used since about the 70's.

Skeeter im not augueing with you, infact I agree with what you say. But it would be intresting if btcc use the international track (blue ;) ) but some how, i think not ;) since this BTCC isn't an international sport :)

BTCC used to use the International layout in the 90's, which used the piece of track that went from Becketts up to Abbey and Abbey was a hairpin. They dropped to the National track only as it is a shorter layout and therefore gives spectators more chances to see the cars.

There is talk about them using the International track for the season finale at the end of the year. I think it would be a good idea, as they could use the new pit and paddock buildings.

EDIT: Scrap that, BTCC have confirmed they will use the National layout for this year.
