I am sure this is pretty basic for most of you however, do you know how to use punctuation properly such as, '(apostrophe) '(quote); : " -.

How about capitalisation, grammar and vocabulary. Do you know what nouns, pronouns, verbs, adverbs, adjectives, prepositions, conjunctions are. All childsplay to you folks I assume?

To be honest, I struggle sometimes to catagorise words as adverbs or whatever, I just use the words and get on with it. I don't think it makes a big difference, I'm one of the tougher proof readers at work, and I'm sure these guys are better at saying "this word is this" etc..

Why do I need english when i'm a child of science?!

We speak in equations, numbers, smells and occasionally hushed whispers (but that can only be used when it's very important).

I speak good and 'proper' english, but the unfortunate truth is that I'd probably fail an English exam.

Passed my GCSE's which were my last set of English exams, almost 11 years ago! ;-)

I tend to find the grammatical accuracy of most of the best minds to be somewhat questionable, from spelling to capitalisation, punctuation and even choice of words.
They may not be able to make correct use of a semicolon, but they are designing things and earning salaries that us normal folk could only dream about!

My use of the English language is OK I guess. I get by and have a reasonable vocabulary and can spell fairly well. But understanding the technical aspect such as adverbs and pronouns has escaped me since school. I know how to talk and how to write in a fairly coherent manner though.

I guess I am just average.
