how to add a power in word

Superscript, not sure how to do it though.

edit: If its word 2007 then go to the 'insert' tab then click equation on the right, then go wild.

What?

Write out what you want, say c squared:

c2

then highlight the 2 and go to Format, Font, and click the Superscript box. Or use the Ctrl + Shift + + shortcut as said above.

CTRL+SHIFT++ does superscript
what he said..

turns on superscript, so whatever you type appears small at the top of the line e.g. for powers!

'CTRL' + 'SHIFT' + '='

and press the same thing again to get back to normal text mode
