How to become a PCSO?

Ahoy there,

im intrested in becoming a pcso but can't really find any websites on how to apply to become one?

im wondering if anyone else is one and how did they become one, and how can i apply to become one, or what do i need to do or where do i go?

im from halifax west yorkshire if that helps.

Not all forces are recruiting PCSOs at the moment. Hampshire are though, not sure if that's helpful though.

E: People don't respect them enough. They contribute massively to the police making the regulars lives easier.

That's not always as easy as it seems. Be careful if this is your own motivation.

Seems to be the norm our way, although your not guaranteed to progress to a full on bobby it certainly does go more in your favour if you have previous experience.

Just be aware that the goalposts can and do get moved on a near regular basis.

None of the PCSOs I work with are like that.

I've never seen why people knock the job of the PCSO. For as long as I can remember, people have moaned about police time being wasted by dealing with kids pinching sweets from shops etc and when something is done about it, they still moan.

Most the PCSO's round here are hot blondes in thier 20s

Other than looking pretty and chatting to grannys, Theyre pretty useless.

PCSO's are hilarious. I was sitting alone on a bench in the city centre, when two of them came up to me and asked me to "Move along." Needless to say I laughed and continued to eat my sandwich.
