Hiya.

I have a pair of 5850's and I want to see if I can get a little more from them. Ive been reading of most cards being able to achieve at least 800 on the core but CCC has it locked to 775.

How do I bypass this so I can clock higher.

Cheers

download MSI afterburner, edit the config file and away you go :)
MSIafterburner.cfg

EnableUnofficialOverclocking = 1
UnofficialOverclockingEULA = I confirm that I am aware of unofficial overclocking limitations and fully understand that MSI will not provide me any support on it
UnofficialOverclockingMode = 1
AccessibilityCheckingPeriod = 0

My bro has two 5850's and iirc, one of them cant be overclocked very far at all, will this work for this situation too or do I need to flash his BIOS?

Cheers.

maybe you could bump the volts up on 1 card to go a tad higher. not sure, never really been too keen on overclocking the graphics, seems to be ok @ stock so felt it safer to leave alone. the bits i did do it benched better but no real ingame benefit.

Hi and thanks for your reply. :D

Sorry I didn't explain that very well, there's literally a limit on the frequency itself and the slider will simply not go up any further.

This is what i done to mine to bump the limits up on ccc. Found this info on another site when i was unlocking the shaders for my 6950, dont know if it would work with your card but im guessing it would as this part is just to do with ccc.

Download Asus SmartDoctor

Under Asus SmartDoctor's settings, check the "Overclocking range enhancement" option

Click "OK"

Exit Asus SmartDoctor

Launch Catalyst Control Center

Your OverDrive limits should now be bumped up.
