I think entrapment would depend on the specific situation but I guess there is a strong possibility of it with something like this.

As for the fact the person isn't actually under 18 - tis the intent that is important AFAIK - the kiddie fiddler believes the person is <18.
 
but they never commit a crime when they go to the persons house. it reminds me of minority report and thought crime.
 
To hell with the pedos, but showing their faces on national television must bring terrible shame to family (moreso) and friends. This show imo is destroying innocent lives who more than likely played no part whatsoever but will have to bear a lot of the repercussions. Good entertainment though :p

In the later ones they video the court date just after where initial charges are brought against them and bail is set.

At the end of the show they give you a run down of the ones that pleaded guilty and not guilty (obviously this takes longer). I think there has been a couple of follow up shows as well.

I know in one case, they arrested a lad who had only attended court that morning from the first time they caught him!! :eek:

They don't commit what we consider a crime using our criminal system but America is different. They have laws that cover the grooming of minors on the internet, and turning up to the house is also an offence if you arrive with intent. Which is why they ask the men to bring items such as condoms as this proves their intent.

The laws vary from state to state, however, I'll see if I can find the laws being quoted.

apart from attempting to get funky with what they believe to be a minor? Just because you didn't commit the crime yet doesn't mean you can't be charged and sentenced. Remember that the simple act of turning up isn't the only thing that gets them. The video I'm watching now was of a Rabbi who sent naked images of himself to what he thought was a young boy.

lol entrapment. Also its so funny when the decoy claims to be 16 which would be legal here yet they make a huge deal out of it, loads of countrys are even lower like 14.

What's also funny is how a lot of kids under the age of consent are shagging anything that moves without the need for grooming.
 
This show is totally stupid and only worth a small amount of entertainment value for Chavs. The problem with shows like this is that it doesn't solve anything. Instead of trying to solve the problem from the root, they just put the 'meat on the hook'. That's like putting out a public offer of £10 million to see who would take the offer to kill someone. I'm sure with an offer like that, many people would consider it. All in all, stupid pathetic show for the scums. What's even worse is that people are exploiting these twisted paedophiles as another approach to make money.

I can't believe people find this funny. What is the funny side to this show? The fact that there are many paedophiles out there and only a small amount of them are getting busted on televison? Have you wondered what happens to those paedophiles that don't get busted? Yeah exactly! Sad and pathetic!

Well these guys are just stupid, they don't even do a little recon, which essentially means that while they are sick, they are not that dangerous.

What a uneducated and silly post, the fact that you start by insulting everyone who finds this interesting by calling them chavs and then scum really does show the lack of intelligence in your post.

This show I am sure has had more of an impact than a lot of other measures used by police forces across the USA. For a start it is raising awareness that this is a lot more common than people think, pushing parents to take more involvement in what their kids are doing. Secondly, it is another barrier of prevention to make 'predators' think twice about what they are doing.

It is obvious that breaking the law isn't enough of a deterrent, however, having their pathetic faces plastered all over international television may work. At the end of the day, if it makes one of these people think "no, I shouldn't, it could be a trap" then the show was a huge success.

As for the funny side, it is not what they are doing, but the pathetic excuses and bull**** stories they come up with that people find humorous to start with, not to mention the fact, in a couple of episodes a few get tazered which is always funny no matter who it is :)

Would you just prefer that no television show was made? that awareness about the issues wasn't increased? or perhaps those few that have been arrested should have been allowed to carry on without intervention?
