The graphical settings have been set to high for current monitor and I can't play counter strike or even change the settings in the menu as the monitor comes with error ( out of range ), please help.

I believe your display settings are all set in the registry, not the config, so have a look in the windows registry for the CS:S keys, there should be a Horizontal and vertical setting somewhere that you can change to say 1024 and 768 to start over again.

Could you possibly just do a system restore? Thats what I did when I bought my new screen and set the wrong resolution!

Seems a bit OTT just for one game - the resolution must be stored somewhere (config/registry) so it shouldn't be hard to fix.

are you sure its the resolution causing the out or range message? It could be the refresh rate as well.

Try going in to dxdiag, click on more help, then overide and type 60 in to the box. Press ok and exit and try the game again.
