I dont understand why its not just fully customisable? Is there any benifit to anyone in making it hard to change?

To stop Dell, HP etc. plastering Windows with their branding?

its advertisement when the pc boots and is locked. makes sense to lock it in some form. otherwise it would just be a big DELL logon screen

The whole reason why this has been made slightly easier than in XP is to ALLOW OEM companies to brand it.

Why cant it just be a user configurable thing like the desktop anyway!

So which one is it?

Just tried both and locked pc and neither seemed to work, il try a restart in a bit and see if that helps.

Edit: backgroundDefault works, but not defaultBackground, and for me it wouldn't work with '.jpg' typed, got rid of it and it worked fine.
