How to change your name by Deed Poll

I kid you not, there was a guy on the system where I worked over the summer called "Bolt Upright".
 
I heard of someone changing their name to "The Great Ragu".

His employer was not amused.

Years ago I booked a guy on holiday and his name, as it appeared on his passport, was "TANK"

No surname, no first name. Just Tank.
 
you don't even need to do that. you can change your name at will.
just say your name is whatever, and it is, fully legally under uk law.

there's no legal way to change a christian name though.

and of course, banks will not just take your word for it, they'll want something a bit more official as proof.

get in quick before they bring out id cards, bet it wont be easy to change your number.
 
Best i've had recently at work were a guy called Flipper and another called Fishbones, Fishbones was his given name, not been changed in the past.

Go figure?
