Back in Cyprus, we managed 1.5kg of freshly minced lamb for less than £11 - very high quality, delicious lamb.

Bloody foreigners coming over here, complaining about our lamb :p ;)

That's about the same price as supermarket organic minced lamb

I bought 2 KG from my local butcher 2 weeks ago for £14 and it was carved off the lamb carcus and minced while I waited and very high quality

So cheaper and the butcher has one of the best reputations in Somerset for producing high quality locally sourced meat

Wow, sounds like fantastic deal. Can you send me some please - it's a bit of a trek down to Somerset for me!

Any chops or fillets I buy from my local butcher costs me near on makes no difference £10. I do buy a fair bit as I tend to consume decent high volumes, but it's just such a shame as I basically grew up with lamb as a major source of meat (Mediterranean background) .

Maybe I did the conversion wrong... eitherway it was competitive, furthermore you don't have a premium for "organic" or not over there it just is.

Meh :p

You should come to wales, you can meet the sheep you're going to have for lunch :D

You don't have to tell me ;)

That's why I said to roast it and not to seal it, because a rack of lamb is better roasted. Who'd caserole a rack of lamb?!

Was more for info for anyone reading the thread really.

A really good lamb casserole is fantastic stuff but as you say, roasted is great too. It's fairly hard to go wrong with good lamb really, it's got such good flavour in itself, what ever you do will taste good!!!
