How to create a seperate partition for music/videos/games

If you already have a single partition across the whole disk then you'll need to use something like Partition Magic to shrink the existing partition and create a new one in the released space. This has some potential problems though - it isn't guaranteed to be safe so backups are essential and it depends on having sufficient free space, you may have to shuffle files about and resize multiple times to get the partitions sized the way you want.

If you can afford it get another hd it makes the process a lot easier. Then you could split the new one with say another xp on first partition & games, and then transfer existing media onto other.
I`d backup everything tho to dl media if you can first tho as rp says.
The advantage of having another hd is say if windows/hd goes down/unbootable your have other os to take over.
I have my 2nd xp partition on other hd stripped of all net access(no need for firewall etc then) and unnecessary services.I get better performance this way playing games and for my music production.
I recommend Acronis disk director or there might be a freeware app out there. If you need more advice once you`ve decided what to do we`ll run the procedure through for you.
Ok i`ll stop blethering..gets coat:p
