How to disable an iPhone?

Well that's the risk you take with an expensive phone. I'm not going to stop buying expensive things just because there's a chance they can get stolen.

If i think i'm going anywhere dodgy (usually when i'm without my car and on a night out) i'll take the iphone sim out and stick it in my old battered phone. My mate got hit and had his phone taken only a few weeks back so i've learnt from that. However he said he was insanely drunk at the time and all by himself, making him a very easy target...
