I am having trouble disabling the ICF firewall on 2 Panasonic Toughbook laptops we have at work.

They are built with our standard XP Pro image with SP1 and even when logged in as an administrator, I can disable the ICF firewall but when you reboot or log back on the firewall has enabled again.

Is there a registry key or other way of permanently disabling this firewall?

Thanks in advance!

If open up the services snap in (type services.msc in Run) you can select the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service and manually disable it. You could also try disabling the Security Centre service while you're there.

Do this at your own risk though, these services are there for a reason!

Thanks for that, i found the service and disabled it. Everything is working away happily now.

There is no need for any type of firewall on these laptops as they will never be networked. They needed this disabling as it was interupting ethernet communication with some equipment.
