How to disable Ray-Tracing?

Hey guys,

Is there any way to disable Ray-Tracing, so its not used at all across any games?

I just jumped into my "tester" game, BFV, 64 man conquest, 3840x1080 at everything ultra, including RTX!

Im averaging in this setup, 60-70fps and is smooth and fluid, but I would rather it off!

When im in the game menu, in video settings, the stupid RTX option, is greyed out on "ultra".

So can I disable this in W10 at some point? I would rather a little less eye-candy and some more FPS being put into the game..

Also to note : I don't know why but my CPU + GPU are not at high / max output under gaming stress?

My cpu is at around 75% usage and the GPU around 80%:confused:

Any help ASAP is much appreciated guys!

Thanks @Rroff

I loaded up the game, and on custom the RT is still greyed-out?:(

There's no way you are getting bottlenecked with that hardware. Check the gpu glocks in game. Did you recently upgrade? Is this a new build or upgraded parts?

Its a new system yes..I kept the RAM and SSD's.

So you think it could be something to do with the GPU? Considering it wont max out usage? no where near it tbh!

Guys,

Should I order a GPU for testing, I was looking at a 1050ti STRIX to see how that fairs?

Could it even be my new SSD? Its in the second slot on the motherboard, not the top one just below the CPU and above the GPU?

I have just done a fresh install on the system W10 and BFV is still the same for FPS :(

did you run benchmarks like heaven and valley at the ultra preset to see if your current gpu is hitting the right score?

Downloading now.

Something is wrong for sure! Since my fresh install, every 5 mins or so im getting a black screen for 3-4 seconds now :S

Still no joy..and nothing obvious coming into the "event viewer".

I have decided to send back the 2080s and order a 1660s to hold me over until new GPUs (3000 series) are released sometime this year.

Will report back how I get on once I receive the new part!

21959 & 5613 respectively here with a 1080ti and 4790K @ 4.8, I'm on build 18363, I'd have expected your card to better mine in both, prior to sending it back did you try the same build of 10 that I'm on?

Yes mate.

Added - I installed the new GPU today on a total refresh and updated W10, and there has been no black screens as of yet!

Im installing BFV atm to see how games fair, but im happier to see no issues with blacking out! Also rules out my monitor, which is a big relief as it would be a nightmare to repackage and send back :p

Update,

Just ran Battlefield 5 there, 3840x1080 on "medium" settings (yes I know I was on high/ultra on the 2080s).

Was (as usual on conquest, 64 man server) and getting around 85fps, which for a 1660 aint half bad!

gpu peak temp : 66c on stock fan curve
cpu peak temp : 66c on stock fan curve

my GPU (unlike the 2080s) was at 100% usage, which im happy with as it means two things!

1) the GPU is fully utilised
2) means that my GPU is the bottleneck and perfect for upgrading in the future! knowing my 3900X has a long way to go :)
