How to Enable In game AA in Batman Arkham Asylum - ATi Cards

Using Ray Adams ATI Tray Tool utility. The advantage of doing it the alternate way is that the Nvidia card check is bypassed and you get ingame AA rather than AA forced by the display driver. Big deal you are probably thinking but the ingame AA is faster as it isn't done via brute force.

So how do you do it the ATI Tray Tool way?

Install it (users with 64bit OS's will need to sign the driver if you want to use the overclocking part of the app, I just didn't enable that part or any of the clock reading functions as it isn't needed and so that it would work on X64 without messing around since explaining how to sign drivers for 64bit use is beyond what I am going to go into here)

Create two profiles in the ATI Tray Tools app, one for the BmLauncher.exe and ShippingPC-BmGame.exe

In the 'Direct3D Tweaks' option, enable the tickbox to change the adapter identification
In the Vendor ID put 10DE for the Device ID put 5E2 The device description put NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260. Do this for both profiles saving each one before starting the next.

Launch the batman launcher. If you have done it correctly it will say that your Nvidia drivers are out of date (because you are using ATI ones of course) and it will then allow you to set AA in the launcher. After that start the game. Notice that the ingame AA works.

Credit for this goes to Szaby59 although his instructions were a bit lacking so I changed them a bit to hopefully make it clearer what to do.

right click on icon and go on "Game Profiles". first time for me too.

after doing this sucessfully, your media players freeze up, probably something to do with graphic card and the use of it while watching movies. i didn't know how to undo it so i just uninstalled ATI tools to get rid of the problem.

just a heads up if it happens to ya don't panic.

AMD still haven't bothered working with the developers to get it added then? it's been what 2mths since they complained publically?

It's more a case that the developers are too busy looking at their sacks of cash from nVidia to take any notice of AMD's issues.

Er working with the developers on what exactly? Clearly the game works fine with in game AA on ATI hardware with no input required from ATI.

This is what makes me laugh about Nvidia's stupid tactics, blocking out features for ATI cards etc. Someone will always find a way around it. :D

I think he means the device ID check, in the batman .exe
The device ID check is for the card, batman checks to make sure it's an nVidia card then allows you to enable AA, if it's not an nv device ID, you don't get AA, there's not much ATi can do about that (all this 'hack' does is trick the ATi driver into reporting to batman that it is an nVidia card).

Can't get this working on Win7 64bit. I don't want the OC'ing features so I unticked the box during installation but it still needs a digital signature on the low level driver & won't run.

What am I doing wrong here?

Cheers.
