Hi Guys -

I have just done an extension to the house and put in an ethernet cable through to the new bit for hard wired connections thinking this would help - as predicted the wireless does not reach that part of the house but I want to extend the wireless network.

Is there a range extender or something else anyone can recomend that I can plug into the ethernet cable to extend my wireless network to the new part of the house?

Thanks in advance!

Current internet is with BT Infinity and using the BT HomeHub.

You want a wireless access point, or a wireless router configured as one.

You need to decide what type(s) of wireless you want, and how much you're willing to spend.

Thanks -

Not very savey on all the complex side of wireless networks I'm afraid but essentially I just want to have an extension of my existing network (Wireless N) so I can walk seemlessley between them if needed and the signal to appear as if it is a single source in the house (not several which I have had with the wall socket extenders before).

Money not too much of a concern so long as it works and is fairly easy to set up.

Any recomednations welcom!

Having it seamless it the difficult bit. Using the same SSID and other settings will get you so far, but it doesn't work that well if you're actually wandering around the house.

If true seamless roaming it's an important consideration then have a look at Ubiquiti UniFi kit. You'd need to use them for all of the wireless, not just as an add-on to the HomeHub.

I recommend the Asus RP-N53 Dual Band Wireless Range Extender, bit pricey but it does the job very well. Can see my review below in sig.

If you set it with the same SSID and Passsword but make sure they are broadcasting on different wireless channels. Most devices will hop between them i had it set up like that here for a while and worked fine.
