How to find a structural engineer/builder/plumber?

We used word of mouth. Had zero luck with roofers / plumbers / electricians returning my calls, and the builder / electrician / plumber combo I'm using now are seriously busy and queueing up work in to next year and beyond.

If it's just steels etc, then approach your local steel company.. Some offer a design service (ours does)..

Then definitely give your local architects a call.. Ours found us a builder that was not only trusted, but also saved us a fortune as he knew seemingly everything about everything, he got our steels calc'd for free using the local steel supplier (no idea if they also do it for private individuals).

Ask in Screwfix or Toolstation too. Word of good contractors gets around. Also the ones to avoid!

Mkay, stopped masturbating long enough to concentrate a bit.

First question, are you sure the smaller rads will provide enough heat? Secondly, do you have a crawl space? How are the rads connected now? Just pipes along the wall?

Looks fairly straight forward to be honest, need more info tho.

Where do you live? Happy to pop by and have a look to see what's what.

Plot twist - the heating engineer has said he may arrive next week (why are they so mysterious?).

Rad wise I have re-run my calcs as each website seems to give a slightly different answer. Purple is original calc, yellow is what I've ordered, dark green is my re-calc using a different website. I've oversized significantly in the bedrooms - a fraction over downstairs, and the hall is oversized too. The current rads are massive old school cast things that are super inefficient.

Anyways - I will 100% take you up on your offer and we can get smashed with my wifes BF (if he's not busy). Let's see what state the plumber leaves me in, as he only quoted to swap 3 rads (of the same size, I think lol) <3

If you need to hire a structural engineer, look for someone who is professionally qualified, such as a CEng, IEng, or EngTech registered with the Engineering Council or a Chartered, Technician, or Associate-Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers (FIStructE, MIStructE, AIStructE, TIStructE, or AMIStructE).

The best way to find a good plumber is to ask friends and neighbors, remodeling contractors, and real estate agents. Nothing holds up a home sale faster than plumbing problems, so realtors often have a list of reliable, fast-response plumbers.

You don't ..
Out of god knows how many years only one tradesmen has never let me down and that the plumber.

Check a trade and my builder are just as bad as randomly ringing places or your friends amazing builder....

Luck of the draw basically.
