How do i find out all my line details for my internet like upload and download speeds,Line Attenuation,Noise margin etc.
Just seem to be getting lower download speeds lately and wonder if i am being throttled.

Thanks

Martyn

It's in the router's web interface (stick speedtouch.config into your browser and it should open, IIRC). Can't remember exactly where (I don't use my BeBox any more) but it's under connection details or something.

Thanks for that gillywibble

How does this look then?

Ok cool.
I was just wondering as to if i should get an I-Plate to surpress the bell ring if that would make any difference to my download speeds?

Cheers

Don't even consider getting an iPlate. They are completely pointless.

If there is a ring wire in place, then simply remove it.

You could consider getting an XTE-2005 Faceplate and Pro RJ11 cable, although I imagine it wouldn't make any appreciable difference given your connection speed.

Can your ISP not change your SNR profile for you? You are not doing badly at that on an 8meg package tbh but your line is obviously short and not noisy so you should get the full whack... Downloads different to synch of course and you could just be being throttled depending on what you are d/l? ;)

I may ask them to look into the SNR profile for me.I did used to be a heavy downloader but not any more so im not overly bothered. They have just offered me 2 months free then a reduced price to £12.99 for my 8mb unlimited
broardband with free calls and also a new d link router i think they said with some new micro filters :)
So not to bad :)

What download speeds are you getting? Some people here seem to have missed the point - there's nothing wrong with your line itself, as you're connected at 8096kbps where the maximum for 8Mb ADSL is 8128. That 32kbps is going to make no real difference. If you're getting slow download speeds than it's down to your ISP or your hardware rather than your line.

6.6Mb is not bad, especially for peak time. 3.8 is less good, but it depends what your missus was doing - if she was downloading or watching iPlayer then it's to be expected.

Where exactly are you getting slow speeds? 6.6Mbps isn't especially slow.

As above your speeds are decent...not brilliant but decent and the fact that your girlfriend was doing 'womthing' on the internet at the same time means you can bin the 2nd result. Time of day could easily account for the 6.6 imho
