Going to look at a cheap Ford Focus tomorrow, just wanted to know if there is anyway to find out basic specs from reg number? V203DGO is the reg... so if anyone can pop up some details, i would be gratefull... Also how bad are the 1600 Zetecs?

the 1.6 is gutless.

Depends on the use really. 1.6 is find around town or whatever but wouldn't be great on longer journeys or carrying several passengers / weight etc.

It will be too and from work and too and from local places... Maybe the odd occasional long journey but nothing more than 100 miles...

sorry but thats utter rubbish, the 1.6 in the Focus is very smooth and managed to pull my fat dad, my chubby self and an old Ford cortina engine in the boot with ease. On motorway journeys is perfectly comfortable and will cruise at 90 all day (not that ive ever done such a thing)

If you want more power get the 2.0, the 1.8 is not that great

it really isn't, for everyday plodding around and the odd motorway journey the 1.6 is great. However i can agree that anyone who buys a 1.4 deserves to be shot.

the 1.6 isn't gutless, it got my to france with a passenger and the boot and back seats totally full just fine. Sure you may have to change down to forth from time to time but its fine and nippy enough around town.

Just because "it got you there" doesn't mean its not gutless. A 998cc mini would "get you there", its still gutless.

It depends entirely on perception...

If you don't care for cars and just want something to get you from a-b then a 1.6 would be fine.. It will be slow accelerating and add a couple of people in the car and it will be even worse. Lots of people think 1.2's are 'quite fast' :p

tbh.. If your thinking of buying a 1.6 fiesta then you don't care about cars.

just out of interest has anyone used that text thing which is advertised on TV, you text the reg and it sends back details.

I am always skeptical about, such things but it seems a good idea if it works.

I've always used DVLA vehicle enquiry. As long as you know the make of car and the reg you can find out some details. Mainly engine size, date of first registration and whether they've paid their tax. :p

Yes it works and tells you engine details ect but also if its a cat c ect.

Quite good if you buy and sell a lot of cars, or even just a personal one off.
