Just in the process of buying a very cheap x800 agp but the bios went corrupt during a flash, whats the easiest way to resolve this? i have the bios on floppy atm.

Something on the lines of booting from cdrom with the bios on the disc as an exe or sommot?

Try sticking an old PCI video card in to see what you are doing. Then make a bootable floppy with the new bios file and the flasher util. Boot from that floppy with both video cards in the system and see what you can do.

Thanks might have to try that.

I was hoping that as power colour is a big company i could create a bootable cd and make the bios file autorun on boot up or is this a no - no..?

any powercolor x800pro users done it?

You could do that if your sure of the correct switches to use with the flash util. I'd still be tempted to try a PCI video card on the off chance you can see what your doing and what error messages (if any) appear.

To blind flash a from a floppy, the command (from memory):

atiflash bios.bin 0 -p -f

will need to be inserted into a file called "autoexec.bat". This file runs automatically everytime a floppy is inserted, and will carry out any commands that you have added to the file.

The will be literally ten's of guides on how to blind flash on google. A good site www.techpowerup!.com will also have a guide.

A similar thing will happen with a bootable CD but Ive not personally tried it (since I keep my floppy drive).

Thanks, some usefull advice at last.

Dont have a floppy drive in this case:(

Maybe i could make a bootable cd from nero, put the autoexec file on as you suggested and the bios file on there. Would that work then?

Only if the CD is in a drive that is higher in the boot order than the HDD, which is rather unlikely. Of course, you could change the boot order in the BIOS...if you could see what you were doing.

Maybe you could pull the graphics card from the machine you're using to post here, put it in your PC in place of the x800, power up, enter the BIOS, change the boot order to put a CD/DVD drive above the HDD in the boot order, put the bootable flashing CD you refer to in that drive, power down and switch the cards back around so that the X800 is back in and then power up.
