How to get better HD video performance from my Compaq 311c?

I've got a 311c with the 2gb RAM upgrade and while I love this machine 95% of the time, I can't help but wish I could get better HD video performance on YouTube and watching Flip videos etc.

Can anybody offer me some advice or point me to somewhere that will spell out what adjustments I can make to get better playback?

Also is it worth running Windows 7 on one of these machines or should I keep it on Windows XP?

Few threads about it over at myhpmini forum. I've just got hold of one and had to go through and change a few things before i could watch HD, but it still doesn't like 1080p in wmv format
