Hi everyone,

I recently brought a very cheap car, and it turns out it's absoloutly infested with Fleas...which are now in the house.

What is the best way to get rid of these little beasts, baring in mind I have a 1 year old child so it would have to be a child friendly manner. Also, is there a way to stop them from biting me?

I've taken to hoovering every day, and I was looking at shampooing the carpets.

Thanks,

Adam

You can buy flea bombs that go off and sprays vapour all round your house and kills them off. You need to leave your house for a few hours tho

Fumigate all the carpets, you need to hoover everything first particually around the skirting and the furniture. Then spray and leave the house for a few hours, come back and hoover all over again. Might need a few goes. If its a really bad infestation then get in a company to treat it for you as their pesticide is much stronger.

You can get household flea powder which you put on floors/carpets/furniture and then hoover it away.

Buy a kit with bug bombs and carpet spray. Worked first time when we had them after moving into a new property that was infested.

Set the bombs off in the rooms and head out for the day, shopping or something. Treat your carpets and rugs with the spray a few times a day for a week or so. Problem solved. :)

That's great, thank you all for your replies.

Do you just pick this up in a pet shop?

Cheers

I got it online. I'll have a quick look now to see if I can find something similar. :)

EDIT: Something like this ought to do it! You can buy bigger kits if you feel the need, or just a few extra bombs. :)

Dead simple way to get rid of them, buy cheap table salt and sprinkle it around your house, they hate it as it sucks the water out of them and kills them.

Our cat brought them into the house a couple of years ago, and the salt wiped them out.
