How to get my ram to run at 1T?

I've just had a play with my ram timings.

OCZ Platinum 4x256MB Stock of 2.5-3-3-7 2T

Tried changing it to 1T and it just BSOD'd when trying to boot.
What's wrong there? the 4 stick proving a problem? or do I need more volts, currently running at stock.

I then tried changing the Cas from 2.5 to 2. It booted windows fine.

I used Everest to do benchmarks on my memory at stock to test my memory so i could see any improvements gained.
Here's the results so far
Stock vs lowering Cas from 2.5 to 2
Read 4983MB/sec - 5153MB/sec (+170)
Write 4062MB/sec - 4066MB/sec (+4)
Copy 4334MB/sec - 4427MB/sec (+93)
Latency 62ns - 59.9ns (-2.1) remember less is more lol :D

And i swear to god i noticed a difference in windows boot time.

Just incase people can't read my crappy sig i've got an X2 4200 in an Asrock Dual board currently running at stock.

read up more mate. your using the asrock board. its a know problem that 1T doesn;t work with this board with all types of ram. only certain select sticks of ram will do 1t with the board. wait for a bios update

Your RAM will not run at 1T as you have all 4 DIMM slots full iirc

Thats what Ive read too, it stresses the memory controller too much. The top spec only applys to 2 slots on most boards

You cannot use 4x512 at 1T with AMD cpus no matter what board you use.

Its not a big deal to be honest as you will not see any loss in games FPS really over 2X1024 at 1T. Only really an issue if you love benchmarking.

Not entirely correct, the DFI LANParty UT RDX200 can do it thanks to Oskar Wu:

However, what is truly unique is that the DFI LANParty UT RDX200 is the first board designed to run four double-sided 512MB or 1GB DIMMs at the fastest timings and a 1T Command Rate. In fact, AMD specifications tell us that this is impossible. To his credit, Oskar Wu and DFI found a way to accomplish the impossible.

And there is a performance hit with 2T, I haven't seen any recent figures but I think it does make some difference to games, though as you say, you'll only notice it markedly in benchmarks.

for those people who run ram at speeds of 250mhz and tight timings dropping to 2T will not make much difference in real world performance such as games.

but for those people who have cheapo ram that runs at 200mhz and does loos timings like 3-3-3 etc the dropping to 2t will have a greater effect on real world performance.

the drop in bandwidth is almost 400mb per second when going from 1t to 2t so it is always best to get 1t working to maintain better ram efficiency.

its faster to run 1T and 3-3-3 than it is to run 2T and 2-2-2. and 1T with 2-2-2 is the best.
