Hi guys,

We've got a small wasp nest in our loft, only about 2 inches big. Cant see any wasps in the loft though.

Was just wondering if it's safe to do anything ourselves or should we call someone out to deal with it?

Thanks,

Mal

fire, or failing that; who ya gonna call? ghost busters!

or more seriously smoke in loft to mellow any wasps, then knock the nest into a bin bag and throw at suitable neighbour

Not entirely sure, but i can distinctly remember my dad putting on 2 overalls, heavy duty gloves and safety glasses then literally picking up a nest from our shed (was much bigger than 2 inches and very populated- mid summer) throwing it on the floor and sprinkling some wasp powder all over it, was very effective.

THROW A PAIR OF FLAMING NUCLEAR SPACE OVARIES AT IT!

Alternatively, if you can't see any wasps around, just huff some of that insecticidal powder inside and wait until tomorrow (just incase there are any live wasps using it). Put a bag around it, remove it, and voila! Sorted.

As it's getting cold now I wouldn't worry about it. Is it sort of golf ball size or bigger?

We have a few golf ball sized ones and never had a problem from them.

It's more than likely empty now. If unsure wait until the end of October then approch it with a bag and just pop it in should be no problem at all.

The golf ball ones are usually not much of a problem.

The poor wasps are almost dead anyway as they are coming to the end of their natural lives at this time. Just let them bee  and die naturally.
Also wasps never use the same nest again so that can just be left.
