Does anybody know how to get rid of the little security shield that's in the bottom right of icons that require admin privilages (without turning UAC off)?

I've scoured google for an answer and nobody has come up with one. There must be a req hack or summit?

Cheers

You mean the automatic updates shield?

If so you can turn off Automatic updates from within the services.msc snap in.

Unless you are using a HP laptop, in which case it might be the credential manager, which you can uninstall

sorry i don't know how to get rid. :p

Baz - no, not the automatic updates shield, the multicouloured shield on icons as in marcs post.

Neil - yeh I found that thnread too. tried turning UAC off and restarting....STILL there!

Come on you reg-hackers.......

DONE IT!!!

I tried disabling UAC and restarting..no luck. But if you then change the icon to the same on it was before (ie, no change) it goes. Re-enable UAC, restart and hey presto.

I'm pretty sure if I messed with the icons now UAC is enable, the shield would appear again....so I aint going to touch them!
